Maethrillian - Halo: Cryptum

My interpretation of Maethrillian, the capital of the Forerunner Ecumene, as described in Halo: Cryptum and illustrated by Darren Bacon in Halo: Mythos.

Modelled in Blender, the buildings were scattered using Blender's geometry nodes with a custom node tree.
Buildings were instanced from a small collection of 5 different models to have some variety as well as small amounts of random scaling on all axes to break up the shapes. Density and general height were controlled with vertex groups to make the buildings denser and taller closer to the middle of the rings.

Materials are using tileables created in JSPlacement run through colour ramps to get colour and roughness. The emissives were given a random colour between a cold blue and slightly warmer white then multiplied over a procedural voronoi texture to give the appearance of "lanes" of small buildings and windows along the surface.
